The Josephus Research Institute
The Josephus Research Institute was founded in 2020 at the Reformed Theological Faculty of János Selye University with the aim of becoming the center of Josephus studies in Central Europe. The Institute has set itself the task of supporting specialists from the region and integrating them into international Josephus research, as well as promoting the study of the works of Flavius Josephus. We seek to achieve this goal by organizing international conferences and seminars, and by providing publication opportunities for thematic studies. Since the works of Josephus are an important source of first-century Jewish literature and history not only for theologians, we also consider cooperation with related disciplines essential, ensuring interdisciplinarity and the exchange of perspectives across various fields. The Institute has its own library, where we offer research opportunities to all interested scholars.
